Mediterranean Diet an Enjoyable Alternative to a Low-Fat Diet for Heart Health

If you've ever tried to follow a low-fat diet to improve your heart health, but found it too restrictive, a new study shows there's a valid and very palatable alternative -- the Mediterranean diet.

The Mediterranean diet, which previous studies have shown reduces the risk of cancer, type 2 diabetes and Alzheimer's disease, is also as effective at reducing heart attacks and strokes as the American Heart Association's low-fat diet a new study has found.

The study, presented Sunday at an American College of Cardiology conference, involved 202 heart attack survivors who were divided into three groups. One group was put on the Mediterranean diet rich in fat from olive oil, nuts, and fatty fish like salmon; one group was put on a low-fat diet; and the other group simply got "the usual advice in the hospital -- that was it," according to lead researcher Dr. Katherine Tuttle of Providence Medical Research Center and Sacred Heart Medical Center.

After four years, 83 percent of those on the Mediterranean diet or low-fat diet had survived second heart attacks, strokes and heart-related hospitalizations, compared to only 53 percent in the other group.

"Hopefully people will now realize that they don't have to restrict fat in order to reduce the risk of heart disease and strokes -- as long as they choose the right kind of fats," said Trudy Thelander, co-founder of MediterrAsian.com and co-author of The MediterrAsian Way, a cookbook and lifestyle guide based on the diets and lifestyles of Mediterranean and Asian cultures.

"Fatty foods like olive oil, nuts and fatty fish were on the banned list for many years for heart patients and those trying to reduce their risk of heart disease, but these foods have been eaten and enjoyed for centuries throughout the Mediterranean region where heart disease rates are traditionally very rare," said Thelander. "So it's good to see that the Mediterranean diet is finally being recognized by modern medicine as a more palatable alternative to a stricter low-fat diet."

Mediterranean-Style Grilled Marinated Salmon

Serve these simple and stylish salmon steaks with a crisp salad and fresh crusty bread.

Serves 4

5 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
3 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley
2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh basil
1 teaspoon sea salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Four 6-ounce (180g) uncooked salmon steaks
Lemon wedges, for serving
Mix together the olive oil, lemon juice, parsley, basil, salt, and pepper in a bowl until well combined. Marinate the salmon steaks in the mixture, covered, in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
Cook the salmon on a hot grill for 3 minutes on each side, brushing with the marinade. Serve the salmon with lemon wedges for squeezing.


Shrimp, Tomato, Pea, and Basil Risotto

Risottos are usually quite time-consuming to make because you have to stand over the cooking pot and stir constantly while regularly adding small amounts of stock. In some parts of Italy they've discovered that you don't have to go to such trouble in order to end up with a delicious creamy risotto. By simply adding all the ingredients to the pot, then covering with a lid, the risotto will cook by itself without the need to stir at all. In this risotto, tangy tomatoes and flavorful basil combine exquisitely with shrimp and peas.

Serves 4

6 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
2 onions, finely chopped
4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
2 cups arborio rice
4 ripe tomatoes, diced
1/2 cup frozen green peas, thawed
1 cup white wine
4 cups fish, chicken, or vegetable stock
1 teaspoon sea salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
32 large uncooked shrimp (prawns), peeled
2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh basil
2/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Heat 4 tablespoons of the olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat and cook the onions, stirring occasionally, until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic and rice and cook for 1 minute, stirring to coat the rice with oil. Add the tomatoes, peas, wine, stock, salt, and pepper, bring to a boil, cover with a lid, and reduce the heat to low. Simmer gently for 15 minutes without lifting the lid. Remove the lid, quickly place the shrimp on top of the rice, cover and cook for 5 minutes. Stir the basil, cheese, and reserved olive oil through the rice and serve.

Anorexia and The Obsessive Fear Of Gaining Weight

Anorexia nervosa has the highest mortality rates of any psychiatric condition - 10% of those diagnosed die due to related factors. This eating disorder primarily affects women, especially adolescent girls, struggling with the pressure of today's society to be thin. The obsessive fear of gaining weight, combined with body image distortion is a deadly lethal mix. It drives individuals to try to control their body weight by voluntary starvation, binge-eating, purging, vomiting and excessive exercise.

When I hear the word anorexia, I usually think of Nicole Ritchie, Lindsey Lohan and the Olsen Twins. Every gossip rag at the supermarket's check out counter has always some big bold letters announcing which female celebrity is seeking treatment for it. So I was quite surprised when I picked up our local newspaper last week and read about Dennis Quaid and his battle with "manorexia" - the male version of anorexia. Well, well, well.... What do we have here? It seems that the big Hollywood trend of "skin and bones" is not just limited to its female population.

So is the problem of starving to get the perfect body crossing genders? A new study conducted by the American Journal of Psychiatry has discovered that at least 1 million American men are suffering from the condition today. If you ask me, the pressure to have a slim physique like Justin Timberlake or the muscles of Brandon Routh is no different than me wanting to be as sexy as Heidi Klum. Increased doses of dietary supplements and over exercising are just some of the signs of "manorexia". Dennis Quaid went from 180 to 138 pounds. "For many years, I was obsessed about what I was eating, how many calories it had, and how much exercise I'd have to do," Quaid told "Best Life" Magazine. Starving to gain the ideal body has definitely crossed gender lines and the quest for perfection can come with an ugly price tag.

Anorexia is a life threatening condition that can put a serious strain on many of the body's organs. It affects the function of the heart and cardiovascular system which has been linked to heart failure, muscle weakness, immune dysfunction, and ultimately death. Early diagnosis with intervention results in an improved outcome.

Let's take a simple test, shall we?

Take your weight in pounds and multiply that by 705.
Divide the result by your height in inches.
Divide the result again by your height in inches

Here's an example:

I weigh 125 pounds and I am 5'2" (62 inches)
125 multiplied by 705 = 88,125
88,125 divided by 62 inches = 1,421
1,421 divided by 62 inches = 23

What we have just calculated is the Body Mass Index (BMI).

Healthy weight 18.5 to 24.9 BMI
Overweight 25.0 to 29.9 BMI
Obese I 30.0 to 34.9 BMI
Obese II 40 BMI

At a BMI of 23, I am considered in healthy weight. I can drop down to an 18.5 BMI, which is roughly 102 lbs, and I can still maintain a healthy weight for my height based on the current BMI Standards. Since the refusal to maintain healthy body weight of at least 85 percent of the expected weight is a tell-tale sign of anorexia, I better hope that a friend out there starts an intervention right away if I start weighing in at less than 100lbs.

Conditioning for Combat Sports: A Little Known Form of 'Fitness Poker' Promises to Make Weight Loss Fun Again

Sport wrestlers are famous for their phenomenal athletic conditioning, as well as their amazing ability to dramatically "cut weight" almost overnight. Now Jake Shannon, author and lifelong grappler, shares a utterly simply method of superior fitness called "Gotch's Bible" with the rest of us, and it only requires a deck of normal playing cards and some spare time.

Jake learned this method from Karl Gotch, 82, during a visit to Karl's home in Tampa, Florida. For those not familiar with Karl's accomplishments, he represented his native Belgium in both Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling in the 1948 Olympics and, according to WrestlingEncyclopedia.com, Karl was "among the top trainers in the history of the industry, his supreme skills led him to be known as Japan's 'God of Professional Wrestling'").

"I talk to Karl on the phone a few times every week, picking his brain about this and that about grappling", says Shannon. "Luckily I had already been doing many of these exercises before he put me through Gotch's Bible. It is tougher workout than you'd think."

Here's how you do Gotch's Bible: shuffle a full deck (Jokers included) of cards. Black cards mean squats and red cards mean push-ups. Everytime you deal a black card, you do twice the amount of the face value. This means, if you get a black 8, you do 16 squats. If you get a black Ace, you do 22 squats. Spades are regular hindu squats, Clubs are jump squats. The first Joker you pull means you do 40 hindu-squats consecutively.

Now, everytime you get a red card, you do push-ups. This time you do the actual value of the face card. If you get a red 8, you do 8 push-ups. If you get a red Ace, you do 11 push-ups. Diamonds are regular hindu push-ups, Hearts are 1/2 Moon push-ups. The second Joker you pull means you do 20 push-ups consecutively (if don't know what a hindu push-up is, see Karl's Conditioning For Combat Sports DVD, here http://www.scientificwrestling.com/DVD.htm#Karl).

Jake was shocked at the level of difficulty Gotch's Bible presented. "I had 8 cards left and I could do no more. My legs simply would not go. I was huffing and puffing harder that I ever have on a treadmill. Ask anyone that knows me, I work hard to stay in good shape. This kicked my rear-end and took only a fraction of the time of a normal 'Globogym' style workout."

"I used to do this twice in a row", Karl mentioned, meaning he would go through the deck once, then immediately start all over again. No wonder he was such a terror on the mat. As Karl likes to say, "Wrestling is a workman's sport, you need no expensive equipment and can practice it anywhere". Well the same goes for the Gotch Bible. All you need is few minutes, the desire to excel, and a deck of cards.

For those who eventually master this challenge will only find more brutal workouts from Karl waiting for them.

Weight Loss Techniques Look Set to Change in the Future

Gastric bypasses are current surgical operations that reduce the stomach's size to that of a tennis ball, at the same time increasing your risk of respiratory cessation, hear attacks and possibly even death.

Gastric pacers, created in the 1990's by an Italian doctor, are the size of a matchbox, use batteries and are placed surgically under the skin of your abdomen. 2 wires extending around the stomach constantly send out electric pulses that make the brain think the individual is 'full' at an earlier time than usual. This device is believed to be best used by those people who are dangerously obese and don't want the nasty side effects of gastric bypasses.

If the current 200 patient trials finish successfully the FDA will be able to offer approval.

PYY

London's Hammersmith Hospital in the mid 1990's discovered an intestinal protein called peptide YY3-36 (PYY) that lowered peoples appetites. Overweight persons were seen to produce roughly a third less of this protein. The scientists involved reasoned that this shortcoming in obese people could be overcome by simply increasing PYY levels through using a nasal spray before mealtimes. Having been seen so far as very effective, allowing a potential of 6+ pounds to be lost per month per person,the drug's future looks very positive, the only side effect being occasional mild nausea.

At present human trials are scheduled, shops potentially receiving this drug in 3-4 years.

Fat Blasters

Houston's M.D. Anderson Cancer Center saw a way to kill cancer cells in mice by cutting the blood vessels supplying the mass' of tissue. The same scientists then thought that this technique could be used to reduce the size of fat cells. Somebody Save Me From The Flavor of Love

As part of my new and revamped workout schedule I now go to the gym in the mornings instead of the afternoons. I read somewhere that you can burn more cardio calories in the morning rather than in the afternoon, especially if you start your day with an exercise.

The ladies at the gym like to watch Flavour of Love. At least 2 of 5 monitors during my workout are tuned in to this reality tv show. It's not even a toss up anymore of which is cooking show is the worse to watch while I'm on the treadmill - Rachael Ray or Giada. Flavor of Love is absolutely bizarre (putting it mildly), but I just can't seem to look away and mind my own business. I'm hooked to the cat fights, the backstabbing and all the loving. My biggest motivation for workout now is - I gotta go, can't miss an episode. So instead of concentrating on my breathing and focusing my energy, my treadmill time is now totally devoted to watching this show.

I have fallen into a very deep, dark, dark pit. Help!

No matter how hard we diet and how successful we become in losing the stubborn inches, how come we still can't control the feeling of being bloated? So what causes that uncomfortable feeling of bloating?

CAFFEINE
Coffee, chocolate, tea, cocoa, cola and sodas. Although caffeine plays a role in weight loss by stimulating the body as a whole and enhancing fat metabolism, caffeine's effect on the body sometimes triggers factors that are associated with weight gain. For instance, caffeine intake induces stress and the production of cortisol that leads to the deposition of excess fat in the abdomen.

FOODS CONTAINING SORBITOL
Sorbitol is a sweet tasting sugar alcohol that naturally occurs in fruits such as pears and prunes. First marketed to the diabetic society, sugar free foods have gained popularity with the masses as a healthy substitute, not to mention fewer calories, to sugar-rich products - diet beverages, Sweet 'N Low, low fat and sugar substitute baking ingredients, candies, syrup, jubes, mints, breath fresheners, chewing gum, soft drinks, diet yoghurt, and even teeth whitener gum. Cruciferous vegetables are usually included in our daily diets - lettuce, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, brussel sprouts. Experts suggest that eliminating these foods from your diet is ill advised and must be included at least three times a week. Soda pop, spritzer, bottled water, fruit juice. Carbon dioxide trapped in the bubbles of carbonated and fizzy beverages creates gas that can slow down stomach emptying and cause increased bloating. Carbonated beverages can also be high in sodium, doubling the bloating issue.

SODIUM
Even though sodium is essential for regulating specific body functions, just a small amount of excess sodium can cause bloating. It clogs the mechanism that pushes water out of your cells which then hold on to the extra water and enlarge. The American Heart Association recommends a maximum daily intake of 2,400 milligrams of sodium daily - an equivalent to about 1 teaspoon of table salt: 5 1/2 teaspoons of barbecue sauce, 2 1/2 tablespoon of soy sauce, 6 beef jerky, and 17 tablespoons of salsa. This causes you to feel bloated. Fruits that are considered least kind to your intestines are apricot, plums, prunes, pears, sweet cherries, peaches, apples, dried fruits and their juices.

LACTOSE INTOLERANCE
Lactose is the most common carbohydrate implicated in gas production and is often the cause of bloating on most people. This occurs when your body has reduced amounts of lactase, an enzyme that is needed to breakdown lactose. The fermentation of undigested carbohydrates (sugar) leads to gas production. Lactose is commonly found in dairy products (especially cow's milk) and protein powder supplements (milk protein and egg source).

WHEAT & GLUTEN INTOLERANCE
Some people believe that they feel better and less puffy when they eat less wheat. Wheat is one of the seven top allergens and intolerance to it can be difficult to diagnose. Excluding wheat or gluten from your diet is the most effective way to diagnose intolerance. It contains more gluten than other grains and is difficult for your digestive system to digest, leaving you feel bloated. Swallowing air that can cause gas - avoid chewing gum, sucking on candy, talking while eating, smoking, chewing tobacco, deep sighing.

And most of all, never eat when you are upset and avoid tight fitting clothes - definitely good rules to live by :)

Is a Tummy Tuck Right for Me? Plastic Surgeon Mark Deutsch Offers Tips for Selecting the Right Procedure



The flat stomach is back! With the profusion of ads showing low-cut jeans, high-cut shirts and pierced belly buttons, women are seeking a flatter abdomen.

An abdominoplasty, or "tummy tuck," can restore that youthful, "hourglass" appearance in the right patient - ideally one with loose excess skin in the lower abdominal area. A good candidate would be close to their ideal body weight and not smoke.

There are usually three steps to an abdominoplasty, according to Mark Deutsch, M.D., FACS, with Perimeter Plastic Surgery. The first involves tightening the abdominal muscles, which may have become lax over time either due to pregnancy or weight gain. Next the surgeon removes excess skin in the abdominal area and finally, liposuction may be used in the flanks region.

If the patient has loose skin only between the umbilicus or "belly button" and the pubic area, then a "mini" abdominoplasty is indicated. This procedure uses a short, low scar just above the pubic area that does not include an incision around the umbilicus. Therefore only the muscles below the umbilicus can be tightened. Dr. Deutsch explains that if the patient has loose skin and fatty rolls both above and below the umbilicus, then a "full" abdominoplasty is indicated.

"Again, the incision can be kept low near the pubic area, but extending it slightly longer and including an incision around the umbilicus means I can tighten the muscles both above and below this area," he says, "allowing a maximum tightening of the entire abdominal skin." If the patient has had a Caesarean section, this scar is often removed and the abdominoplasty incision takes its place.

Women should not worry about getting pregnant after undergoing an abdominoplasty, "although women who are thinking about getting pregnant in the next year or two should consider postponing the surgery until after having the last child," adds Dr. Deutsch. A pregnancy will stretch out a previously tight stomach in patients who had undergone abdominoplasty, so he recommends that women wait at least 3 to 6 months after the baby is born. This also allows all of the circulating hormones to return to their normal levels.

For some patients, only liposuction is recommended, and not a tummy tuck. "However, if there is loose skin in the lower abdominal area, then liposuction alone is unlikely to lead to a good outcome," says Dr. Deutsch. A decision on the best course to take is made only after a thorough consultation.

Patients undergoing a full abdominoplasty generally stay overnight, while mini-abdominoplasty patients can go home the day of surgery.

Blend until the mixture has formed a smooth sauce. You may need to add a bit more water. Move the mixture to a saucepan and heat it on low heat for 5 minutes. Stir frequently until the mixture is very hot.

While the mixture is heating, cook the salmon. Start by placing the garlic in a non-stick frying pan and heating it for about 1-2 minutes. Next, add the salmon and cook for another 5 to 8 minutes. Be sure to turn the salmon halfway through the cooking process.

Next, drizzle the spinach leaves with some balsamic vinegar and toss them well. Place the cannellinni sauce on each plate along with a few additional spinach leaves. Top everything with the salmon. You may wish to add some olive oil for additional seasoning. Serve alongside the salad immediately.

Mango Orange Ice Cream Dessert

Directions

This dessert can be served in a bowl or you may choose to spoon it back into the orange halves for an elegant presentation. If you choose to serve it in the orange halves, you may need to return it back to the freezer for another 30 minutes or so. Garnish with grated chocolate for an even more decadent dessert.

The reality is that a raw food diet will surpass all of your expectations as concerns taste and flavor. For one thing, flavor is enjoyed at its max. Secondly, it does not come accompanied by the "array" of chemicals that are associated with flavors in cooked food. Thirdly, there is a whole range of raw food recipes out there. And the best thing about it is that you can always come with your own raw food recipes, depending on how creative you can get.

What ingredients could be included in a raw food diet? Let's start with vegetables. They can be either fresh or dried. Then fruits: you can have them fresh, dried or frozen. Seeds and nuts are also a delight when consumed raw. Spices and various other herbs don't make an exception from this rule. You can include even sea vegetables in your raw food diet. Generally, you will find them dried.

Of course, many of those who read about raw food recipes wonder about their expensiveness. Truth be told, there are ingredients in raw food recipes that may be expensive. But consider the following two aspects. First of all, you can adjust your raw food recipes to suit your pockets (however, do try to diversify your raw food diet: in this manner you will benefit from its best aspects). Then, you should consider how much you are willing to spend for your health. When we are talking about a raw food diet, we are actually talking about you. It is all about you and your advantages.

Let's look at two delicious raw food recipes. A plus point is that they can be prepared very quickly and you don't even have to spend a lot of money for making it. We will call it your own cranberry delight.

Start with selecting two ounces of cranberries. See that they are fresh. Also, select two smaller oranges or a bigger one. For sweetening the "product" you will need at least three dates, depending on how sweet you want it to taste in the end.

Then, put the two ounces of cranberries in a blender. Peel the orange(s). Cut it (them) in smaller pieces and put it in the blender, on the cranberries. Blend them together. You should obtain a thick blend. At this point add the dates. Then blend again. Take a taste and see if they fit your "sweetness" expectations. If not, add another two or three dates and blend again. Of course, if you want it even sweeter, you can add dates until you feel satisfied with the end result.

Our second suggestion is a raw soup. The main ingredients are avocado and parsnip. You will need ¼ avocado, one grated parsnip, celery juice, and two teaspoons of flaxseed oil. After selecting the ingredients, all you need to do is blend the grated parsnip and celery juice in a blender. Then add the flaxseed oil and the avocado and blend again. If you want to enhance the taste, you could add half a teaspoon of sea salt.

Pushing The Limits Of Your Exercise Routine

Is everyone really buying into the trend of "a beautiful body in under 30 minutes"?

Today's modern fitness gym will offer you more than just one reason why a gym membership is just worth 30 minutes of your time on a daily basis. Look at all the circuits and systems they have available to chose from. My gym alone has 3 different sets of 30 minute circuits and quite popular since it's always packed. If my gym was Noah's ark, that side would tip over and the stretching section would definitely be up in the air.

It's a great marketing campaign - making fitness fit into your busy lifestyle. But is it really working?

Harvard School of Public Health says that 30 minutes of moderate-intensity activity a day is an excellent starting point to a healthier lifestyle. However, if you are exercising to lose weight, 30 minutes a day will only work if you are careful about what you eat. The Institute of Medicine recommends 60 minutes a day of moderate-intensity activity in order to maintain a healthy weight.

Like most women in my gym, I get my daily fill of exercise from these 30 minute circuits. It wasn't until recently that I started to think about the good old days - you know, where you pop in an aerobics tape and started exercising in front of the tube or exercising page by page from my favourite exercise book The Complete Book of Abs. I even remembered at one time I had my handy VCR record those hawaiian workouts and I would spend an hour exercising to the beat before getting dressed for work. Now those were complete workouts with stretching to start and then winding down to end unlike the circuits. And less expensive....

In the last few weeks I have decided to incorporate my own version of what I understand :) is interval training.

Wikipedia defines interval training as "any cardiovascular workout (e.g. stationary biking, running, rowing, etc.) that involves brief bouts at near-maximum exertion interspersed with periods of lower-intensity activity." A perfect example is a "walk-back sprinting," in which one sprints a short distance (anywhere from 100 to 800 meters), then changes directions and walks back to the starting point (the recovery period) to do it again.

And wow, all I can say is, did I just get to complacent by thinking that a 30 minute circuit is going to produce that hard body that I want (and need- gimme! gimme! gimme!) to fit into the bikini that's hanging in the back of my closet? I can't even remember the last time I did squats, or picked up a jumping rope.

The first change I noticed is the ass. I was an athlete growing up until I reach university level swimming, so I've been lucky that fat deposits do not like to attach themselves there. But, do I feel like J-Lo. I can feel the difference in two weeks and I just know that continuing this exercise regimen would just be beneficial.

The second change is my inner thighs. So for the ladies out there who've been trying to lose excess inches there and can't bear to squeeze another rep out of Suzanne Somers ThighMaster, maybe this will work for you.

My new exercise regimen starts with a 5 minute stretching on the mat.

It's then followed by the 30 Minute Circuit. With each machine in the circuit, I do 2 reps of 15 counts (started with 10). The first rep is the heaviest weight (don't forget to breathe right) I can handle and the second weight is the lowest machine weight available.

I implemented a 2 minute cardio interval in between every 4 sets (that's every after 2 machines in the circuit): 30-second step right feet first, 30-second step left feet first, and then a one minute level 3 or more of the elliptical machine, cycling, stairmaster, ski machine or jump rope (chose of only one machine at every workout).

This is an hour long workout followed by another 10 minute stretch and wind down.

Then, I alternate every fourth workout day with "exercise without machines" - standing twists, squats, crunches, jack knife, side bends, leg overs, isometric crosses. Sounds alien? I guess these are not your standard pilates or yoga terms, but they do really well for shaping your body. I do them in reps of 2 - counts of 15. I use the complete book of.... by the Brungardt brothers. I have the abs, total workout and legs, and it's kind of funny watching the expression of the other gym members when I haul around the books during my workout session....

The Munchie Monster Is Back - Alive and Kicking

Did anyone miss me??

I know it's been very quite here lately. I've had my head stuck skinning Blogger templates, and if you have tried doing that you know that can be a big pain in the ass. Especially with my predisposition to use shocking electric pink in almost every design.

When it comes to mixing and matching colors, even my two university degrees can't save me. I am one of those people that walk out of the house thinking that five different shades of blue on one outfit matches. Go figure. I did, however, save you all from the garish neon pink this time around. I am still not done. I still can't seem to get the right shade of blue for the link so expect to see some more changes.

I would love to have feedback on how you like the new template (my fiance says the header picture looks like me - so sweet), the new color schemes, and how readable the blog is.

Anyway, now that the big job is done .... I found out today that Hostess is releasing my favourite chocolate twinkies in 100 calorie packages!!!! It's definitely making the top 5 things to pick up next time I'm at a grocery store. I made Lem promise to hold on to all the packages and to ration out only one package a day for me. (No matter how much I beg and grovel.....) Just because I'm on a diet doesn't mean that I need to cut out what I love to eat. I'll just add another half an hour to my interval workout and control munching.

Oh my god. I wonder what kind of penance I'll have to do after my trip to The Hershey Spa (yes, folks, that's where you can take a therapeutic dip in tub filled with hazelnut chocolate) for Valentines 2008. I really might have to cut chocolate totally out of my diet after that.
